The road bike wheels and tires offer a lower rolling resistance, which makes it for smoother riding with less effort to pedal compared to clunky mountain bike tires.  These bikes also have mountain bike handle bars with mountain style shifters and brakes, which allows the rider to be in a less aggressive posture.  These "hybrids" bring together the speed of a road bike with the comfort and posture of a mountain bike.

The Jamis Coda offers a steel frame for more riding comfort with 700 x 28c road tires for a smooth ride.

The Jamis Allegro has an aluminum frame with a suspension fork and 700 x 35 tires.  It is built a little more rugged and can handle a little more off-road adventure.
